Dual variated swingarm

As the engine if off the peugeot and im waiting for piston rings I thought id have a look at mounting the dual variated swingarm. First I had to remove the old rigid swing arm and the large drive pully with peddle shaft. Next I removed the kick stand and found that there was an identical mounting point on the new swing arm for it. Finally I offered up the swing arm. I will need to cut the part of the frame that the kick stand was mounted to in order for it to fit.
So next I just have to cut the frame down, buy an extended pivot bolt to mount the front and a set of rear shocks for the back and it should be ready.

Peugeot Vogue 70cc H2O kit

Today I decided to start installing the watercooled 70cc airsal kit on the Peugeot Vogue. Everything seemed to be included in the kit apart from a base gasket but luckily I had a spare.
Long story short I disassembled the old cylinder and started to install the new kit when for some stupid reason I managed to brake one of the piston rings!!! I'll have to put that part of the build on hold until the new rings arrive.

AV10 mounted-ish

Today with the imminent hurricane surging towards the coast, cookson and I got going on the Motobecane.
The carb has been rubber mount fitted. Seems it'll need some adjusting to work whilst under power and variation. The peddle near side also looks bent under examination, but these things are all in the dance if you own a 40yr old moped!

Welding Station

I had a clear out yesterday to make room for my welding station. Will need to get some sort of back board for it but its great to have somewhere inside to weld.

Motobecane clutch

Yesterday I had some time so I used the new clutch/flywheel puller to remove the clutch on Marks Motobecane. All looked to be as it should with no excessive wear on the shoes.

Arc Welder

Mopeds at Dawn has made another leap forward as ive just taken delivery of a small Clarke Arc Welder. Up until now I havent done any welding on the bikes but I thought it was time to learn how to arc weld. This will no doubt help with fabricating parts etc.

New Polini 2 petal reed intake for AV10

The AV10 hasn't been forgotten about and too the Motorbecane. I'm slowly collecting pieces together to one day assemble all of it. This week we @M.A.D have taken delivery of a Polini intake and reed block ready for the AV10. Not even fired the engine up or even fitted it to the bike as there is no point at the moment. I'd imagine that if I were, the engine, even though it does variate it would be slower than a week in prison! Well in comparison to what i'd like it to be. The dual reed block is surely better, but i do believe there is a quad petal which gives you more of a kick in the grunt! This however is a cool addition to the moped. Moped Porn below!

Yesterday the Flywheel/clutch puller arrived so now I can take the clutch off Marks motobecane. It'll also be useful when im working on Sinclairios brown Motobecane.

Peugeot 103 dual variated swing arm

I came across one of these swing arms once before and let it get away. Not this time! It turned up today and apart from needing a good clean it looks to be complete and in good condition.
I first saw one of these swing arms on one of Christophe's builds at Tomahawk tuning.
This will double the gear range over the single variator setup on my peugeot vogue.
Watch this space ;-)

Tomos headlight and voltage regulator

Yesterday after I finished work on the Motobecane I fitted a voltage regulator  behind the headlamp on the Tomos. I'd been blowing headlight bulbs so hopefully this will solve that problem. Only thing left to do now is fit the speedo then its off to get it MOT'd.

Motobecane test ride and tune

Yesterday I had some time so I took the Motobecane out to test the new carb. Initially I didnt think there was much of an improvement over the old carb and was still quite boggy at low end. Anyway I fiddled about with it and after finding that it was running too rich I removed multiple screens from the airfilter which improved the airflow and reduced the low end bog. It also upped the top speed up to 32mph.
Next id just like to got through the clutch and make sure its working correctly but im waiting on a clutch/flywheel puller.
Its coming on!

Here is a quick video of it idling with the new carb.

Motobecane replacement carburettor

Today I spent a bit of time removing the old Gurtner carb from the motobecane and fitting the newer Gurtner that came off my peugeot. It fitted straight on the intake so I ran a new throttle and choke cables and fitted a fuel filter.
When it stops raining I'll give it a run.

Doppler ER3 Variator

I ordered this top of the line variator for my peugeot vougue. I found it on French ebay for a great price. I will probably fit this at the same time as I do the watercooled kit on the motor.
